Qantas' Asian Carrier potentially to be named 'RedQ'

It is well known that Qantas has been trying to penetrate the Asian market, and has been looking to create a spin off to fly within Asia to cater to the needs of business travelers.

According to Fairfax Media, Qantas has attempted to trademark the name "RedQ" in Australia, and it is believed that this may be the spin off Qantas is interested in creating.

If so, this name seems positioned very well to take off in Asian countries such as China, where the culture considers the color red to be a symbol of joy and luck. But this name could prove challenging for Qantas, as rival Virgin holds the trademark for "Red" in Australia for a charitable organization.

Qantas CEO, Alan Joyce has not commented on the new name, but has made statements in the past about Qantas' interest in creating an airline that had an executive-class seating configuration, sort of modeling what British Airways utilizes with their A318s.
